Sunbeam Bread MachineThe Sunbeam bread machine is a popular, inexpensive bread maker. This review will examine the features, good and bad, that people love and dislike about it.

This appliance has over 1000 reviews showing its popularity. I will read through the reviews and summarize the features that are popular and also the ones people think need improving.

The overall rating was a 4 star rating with 86% of the customers gave it either a 4star or 5 star review. On the other hand about 9% gave it a 1 star rating, which is a large number when there are over 1000 reviews.

The complaints covered several things. I don’t know what per cent of appliances become defective after a year of operation, but several complained that theirs became defective after a year of service after the 1 year warranty expired. Then the most recent review as I write this is from someone who has had their machine for 5 years. This person still only gave it a 3 star rating even though she said it makes excellent bread as well as the dough for pizza and rolls. To be honest, having had a retail store for many years, I know that unhappy customers are more likely to tell people about their experience than happy ones, just human nature. But I am here to give you a review and save you from having to read through a thousand reviews. Many of those complained about the paddles that help knead the dough as being what stopped working.

It was surprising at the number of people who bought the bread maker and didn’t use it for months, especially one who bought a refurbished model and didn’t try it out until the warranty had expired. I would strongly suggest that you try any appliance soon after purchasing it. And the length of warranty is important when comparing different products.

I will help you in this comparison by including a chart at the end of this review which will include several of the most popular inexpensive bread makers which will show prices, star ratings, and features in a side by side comparison.

Before going further, here is a video review from someone who loves their Sunbeam 5891 bread machine.

As you can see from the video, some people (86%) love this and love the bread it makes. Some even said their very first loaf was wonderful. People loved the rectangular shaped loaves that it makes so the bread can be used for sandwiches and fits in most toasters well. This can’t be said for the machines that make round loaves.

Some mentioned they enjoyed the versatility of the machine in that it can do other things than make bread. But most people are mainly interested in making dough and baking bread. Some people use it to just make the dough and then prefer to bake it in their oven.

There is a setting to notify you (a beep) when to add other ingredients, such as raisins or different fruits and nuts to make different kinds of bread. There are settings to let you choose how dark you want your bread to be. Some like their crust darker than others. There is also a setting for a 1.5 pound loaf or a 2 pound one.

Many loved the ease of using it and cleaning it as well. Several said they really use it this time of the year and give loaves of freshly baked bread as a gift to friends and neighbors. They love experimenting with different types of bread. One of the most common feature was the inexpensive price, which seems to vary depending on the time of year.

Several said they made bread several times a week and it stood up to this heavy use. Some said they saved enough money to cover the cost in a relatively short time and enjoyed fresh baked bread that they couldn’t get with store bought bread. There used to be a commercial bakery in Dallas and always enjoyed just driving by for that wonderful aroma. We took some kids on a field trip to tour it and at the end of the tour they served fresh hot baked bread with butter and it was oh so good. It’s just so much better than opening a loaf from the store.

Add to that the health benefits of controlling the ingredients that go into your bread. If you get a chance, look carefully at all of the ingredients that go into most commercial bread and do some research on some of them. But they want to keep the bread fresh while it goes through the distribution process from the commercial bakery to the stores and eventually to your home. You don’t have to add those preservatives when you bake your own. And your home is filled with that fresh baked bread aroma.

Here is the comparison chart that I promised earlier.
