This review of the CusinaPro 1447 Cordless Crepe Maker shows why it is currently the best selling model on Amazon. My research found what people liked most and least about this model
Since you are looking at this review you probably have your own favorite kind of crepes. Personally, I love the delicious dessert crepes, especially the strawberry ones with tons of whip cream on top.
CucinaPro 1447 Cordless Feature
The cordless feature was one of the most popular features of this model. I must admit I was a little confused when I first read that this was cordless and then read that the cord easily stores away in the base. Really, this is an electric crepe maker that has two separate parts.. The base which has the heating element and the dipping plate with the handle.
This means there is no cord to get in the way as you take the top part with the handle and dip it into the furnished tray that holds the batter. Since this probably sounds confusing, the video below that shows how the CucinaPro crepe maker works should make it more clear.
That is why the old saying about a picture is worth a 1000 words is so true and a video is even better. You see why a cord attached to the griddle part would be a real hassle. There seems to be some French models that were not cordless.
CucinaPro Electric Crepe Maker Easy to Use
You can see how easily you can make those thin, delicious pancakes with this model. A feature that wasn’t shown in the video was the ready light that comes on when it is ready to dip into the tray with batter. It takes all of the guess work out of when you should do this for best results.
Expect that it will probably take a few tries to master this technique. Be especially careful about adding too much oil or butter to the non-stick surface because the crepe might come off and fall into the tray of batter. Leaving the cooking surface it in the batter too long will start cooking the batter in the tray. It should take only about three seconds to dip and fully coat the cooking surface. The photo to the right was from Wikipedia Commons and you may click on the photo for more details.
The instructions only say the thin crepes should cook through without having to turn the crepe over like you have to do with most crepe makers. But some who like a more crispy crepe like to turn it over and briefly cook the other side. Initially do as the instructions and the video show and see if you like it that way.
But compared to the usual method of trying to spread the batter into a perfect thin circle with one of those tools, this is much easier. Making crepes with the whole family can be a fun and exciting experience.
CucinaPro 1447 Cleans Up Easily
Because of its non-stick surface, the grill section cleans up easily, usually just wiping with a dampened cloth will do the trick. But do not submerge either part into water. Just be careful to not scratch the non-stick surface when cleaning. It is recommended to hand wash the dipping plate before your first use, as you should with any small appliance. Be sure and let it cool before cleaning after each use.
Instruction Booklet Is Easy to Follow
The instructions are very easy to follow and explained well. The recipe that comes with the booklet makes delicious crepes, although there are plenty of other recipes available. I would strongly suggest using the included recipe in the beginning until you get used to your new crepe maker. This recipe was designed to be used with the dipping method rather than the spreading one. Then you can add your favorite fillings and toppings to personalize your crepes for the way you like.
It can be fun to have a “crepe fixings bar” with all sorts of fillings and toppings so everyone can choose the ones they want. Be adventuresome and try some different ones. There are the favorite standbys such as Nutella, berries , and whipped cream. But others use meats, veggies, cheese, and many other ingredients.
Pros of the CucinaPro 1447 Cordless Crepe Maker
When reading through the many customer comments on several sites, the over whelming thing people liked the most was how easy this crepe maker was to use. They loved the cordless feature and the easy to follow instructions. They loved the economical price and several said it was a favorite gift for wedding showers and other occasions. They appreciated the small size, 14 inches wide including the handle, which made it easy to handle. Many said it was actually fun to use. There were a few French teachers who used this model to introduce their classes to this delightful French cuisine.
Cons of the Cucina Pro Crepe Maker
There was also one thing that many people didn’t like, they wish it made bigger crepes. The size of the cooking surface is 7 1/2 inches. Even though this wasn’t mentioned anywhere, I am pretty sure that if the size was much larger it would be much more difficult to use employing this dipping method.
Then, as usual, the feature that most people loved, the ease of use, was just the opposite for a small percentage of people. They didn’t like it because they thought it was difficult to use.
If you are looking for an inexpensive electric crepe maker that is easy and fun to use, then you should give serious consideration to the CucinaPro Cordless Crepe Maker. Just click this link for additional information.
